Does the DeVry University report really make the grade?
Or is it outdated, shortsighted, limited and recommend that you pay more for less?

The DeVry University report is outdated. Conducted in early 2006, Massage Suite was still very new. But even then, the first user to buy the program in late 2005, and who is still using the program going into 2008, would certainly have complained if the program “crashed” as the report claims on a number of instances when making selections from the main menu.

As a side note, the report indicates that the students contacted the other software companies to ask questions and bring any issues to their attention to see their response. That opportunity was never given to Massage Suite.

The report is also shortsighted. The students felt that “The switchboard contains an over abundance of brightly colored buttons, which slows down navigation.” These business students where either unable or unwilling to put in a little bit of effort to understand how the program works like the massage therapist that was testing the demo and sent in the following comment: "My first reaction to the opening page was that it was cluttered, but when I used it I realized that everything I needed was in plain view making it very user-friendly. I immediately ordered it!" Or another who wrote: "I absolutely love Massage Suite. I can't believe how simple it is once you get the hang of it."

The shortest distance between two points is still a straight line. From the main menu, you point, you click, your there. Since my intended market can apparently understand the program, I will just have to accept the fact that some DeVry University business students can’t.

The report is also limited. When you eliminate a program that was released with more features than their recommended program, you don’t get a complete picture.

The bottom line is that the DeVry University report recommends that you spend more money ($400) on a program that provides fewer features than Massage Suite ($150), as the chart below shows.

After all is said and done, the opinion that matters the most is yours. Use the DeVry University report for what it's worth, consider the chart below, and download and try the demos. Then you can decide for yourself based on your own research and testing which program is really smarter, faster and more comprehensive without having to rely on any marketing claims or outdated report.
